A teenager, Ayomide Adeghalu has been reportedly tortured to death by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency popularly known as Amotekun over his failure to account for a missing N500 to his step mother.
The circumstances surrounding the torturing and subsequent death of the teenager in Ondo town are still unfolding as multiple sources claimed that he collapsed and gave up the ghost after enduring several hours of punishments and torture from his step mother and Amotekun operatives.
The late Ayomide was reported to have helped his step mother hawk cooked rice but was unable to give an acceptable explanation for a missing N500 from the expected sales. This failure led to the excessive punishment that may be responsible for his death.
His stepmother reportedly got angered by the boy’s unaccountability and decided to force the truth out of him by punishing him. The deceased was reportedly punished for several hours and when she did not get the answer she wanted, she handed him over to Amotekun operatives who also reportedly tortured him.
The deceased reportedly later became very weak from the torture from the punishment and lost consciousness. By the time he was rushed to the hospital for treatment, he was confirmed dead by the medical team that attended to him.
The case has been reported at the Fagun Police station in Ondo for further investigations into who and what is actually responsible for the teenager’s death while the deceased’s remains have been deposited at a mortuary in the community.
