The Director General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed has declared the NYSC certificate in possession of Enugu state governor-elect, Barrister Peter Mbah as fake and not given to him by the body.
He made this declaration while speaking on speaking on Arise television on Friday where he maintained that the Mbah and the PDP knew that the certificate he was parading was fake but they thought they could ambush the body with a court case.
“he came to me and I called my director to confirm the certificate and we discovered that the certificate was fake and I told him. I wonder how elites who have gone to school will resort to a black market certificate.”
“I was so frank and clear to him that the certificate is not from us. I showed him some few examples just to help him. But he chose to go to court and even to sue whoever that he’s suing.”
Reacting to the case instituted in court against the NYSC by Mbah, Brigadier General Ahmed described it as an exercise in futility as the body will not tolerate anyone parading a fake certificate as their own.
“as far as I’m concerned, NYSC has not been sued. I’m yet to see anything from the court. All that people are saying is what I’m hearing. I’ve not received any court order. We don’t tolerate anything certificate racketeering.”
Responding to Ahmed’s Arise television interview, the director of Communications/Spokesperson, Enugu State PDP Campaign Council, Barr. Nana Ogbodo described Ahmed’s accusations as false as the certificate in Mbah’s possession is original and issued by the body.
“We should have viewed with surprise the false claim by the NYSC DG, Brigadier-General Yushau’u Dogara Ahmed, on national television this morning. But he has not said anything new, as his statements were in sync with the continued conspiracy, deceit, and wilful misrepresentation of facts by the agency and its Director of Corps Certification, Mr. Ibrahim Muhammad, which necessitated Mbah’s N20 Billion lawsuit against the agency and Mr. Muhammad in the first place.”
“NYSC discharge certificates are printed by the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company PLC. They have security features such as watermarks and serial numbers denoting the batches. We therefore challenge the NYSC to produce any other certificate in the series of Mbah’s certificate that has the same serial number as his.”
