A middle aged man, Oladele Waheed has been remanded at Okitipupa Correctional Centre by an Odigbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for assaulting a police officer.
He was arraigned before Chief Magistrate D. O Ogunfuyi on a count charge of assault.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence on August 7,2023 at lroju Street in Ore, Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State.
Oladele Waheed was accused of assaulting one Police Inspector, Adegoke Adetunji who is attached to Area Command Headquarters Ore while he was trying to evade arrest for stealing. He was accused of pushing the Police officer off a motorcycle and caused him injury on his head.
The defendant pleaded not guilty. The defence counsel pleaded that the court grant the accused person bail but was opposed by the prosecution counsel who told the court that the accused would abuse the privilege if granted.
After listening to both counsels, Chief Magistrate D. O Ogunfuyi ordered that the accused be remanded at the Okitipupa Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till September 22, 2023.
