The Ondo State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of interim management committees for the eighteen local government areas and 33 local council development areas( LCDAS) in the state.
The approval was given on Tuesday in response to the request of the state government under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN seeking that interim management be allowed to control the local authorities for the next six months.
The state governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, had sent a request for the confirmation of the interim management to oversee the 18 local government areas and the 33 newly-created LCDAs of the state for the next six months.
The Speaker of the House of the Assembly, Mr Olamide Oladiji said that the individuals presented to be members of the committees have been found capable of overseeing the affairs of the local government areas and the LCDAs which led to the approval given by the house.
He also stated that the development of the state was paramount to the state government, therefore the process of the creation of the newly-created LCDAs was painstakingly handled by the legislative arm.
According to him, the fifty-one council chairmen and their deputies that will oversee the affairs of the local governments and the LCDAs have been properly vetted by the legislative arm of government and found capable of being entrusted with such positions and the responsibilities that are attached to it.
