Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen has hit out at Finidi George over allegations made by the coach that Victor Osimhen refused to honour invitations during the last two World Cup qualification matches which the Super Eagles drew against South Africa and lost to Benin Republic.
The current Africa footballer of the year made the reaction on his Instagram account where he described as false the allegation that he refused to play for the Super Eagles claiming that he was injured and communicated with the coach on the development.
Osimhen claimed that he got injured in the last match for his club and did a scan which he communicated immediately with Finidi George and was shocked to hear claims that he snubbed the Super Eagles.
An angry Osimhen revealed that the situation has made him lost respect for Finidi George because he has always played his heart out for Nigeria and sad to hear the coach try to tarnish his reputation.
He said “I have lost respect for that man (Finidi). I get injury, in the last minute of our last match, I had an ankle injury that was confirmed on MRI.
“I knew things like this would happen, I called Finidi immediately after meeting with the doctor and we both talked with Finidi.
“I won’t allow any disrespect from anybody, I won’t allow that stain from anybody.
I always play my heart out for Nigeria.”
Finidi George had earlier slammed member of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and accused some senior members of the Super Eagles of Indiscipline after which he resigned as the team’s coach instead of continuing working under a foreign technical advisor.
He alleged that some of the players are not committed to the team and are protected by “big men” who make sure they cannot be punished for their indiscipline.
He accused Victor Osimhen of choosing the matches he plays for the country claiming that the Napoli striker could have played those matches which led to the angry response by the forward.
Osimhen threatened to reveal evidence of his discussion with Finidi George where he alongside the doctor informed him about his injury.
