Nigeria women’s national football team, the Super Falcons will be eyeing a record extending WAFCON title when the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in Morocco.
The Super Falcons who are the continent’s most successful women’s football team will be hoping to capture the coveted trophy once again since they last won it in 2018.
Drawn in Group B alongside the likes of Algeria, Botswana and Tunisian, the Super Falcons are huge favourites to not only top the group but win the title.
Head Coach, Justine Magudu will be leading the Super Falcons to Morocco knowing that anything short of winning the trophy will be considered to be a failure by their supporters within and outside the country.
A squad dominated by players playing in foreign countries has been submitted to ensure victory for the Super Falcons in Morocco.
The goalkeepers are: Chiamaka Nnadozie (Brighton, England), Tochukwu Oluehi (Shualat Alsharqia FC, Saudi Arabia) and Rachael Unachukwu (Nasarawa Amazons; Nigeria)
The defenders are: Osinachi Ohale (Pachuca, Mexico), Shukurat Oladipo (AS Roma, Italy), Michelle Alozie (Houston Dash, USA), Ashleigh Plumptre (Ittihad Ladies FC, Saudi Arabia), Sikiratu Isah (Nasarawa Amazons; Nigeria), Oluwatosin Demehin (Galatasaray, Turkey) and Miracle Usani (Edo Queens; Nigeria)
The midfielders are: Halimatu Ayinde (Rosengård, Sweden), Deborah Abiodun (Dallas Trinity, USA), Jennifer Echegini (Paris Saint‑Germain, France), Toni Payne (Everton, England) and Christy Ucheibe (SL Benfica, Portugal)
The forwards are: Francisca Ordega (Ittihad Ladies Club, Saudi Arabia), Chinwendu Ihezuo (Pachuca, Mexico), Ifeoma Onumonu (Montpellier, France), Esther Okoronkwo (AFC Toronto, Canada), Omorinsola Babajide (Tenerife, Spain), Folashade Ijamilusi (Liaoning Shenyang Shenbei Hefeng, China), Chioma Okafor (UConn Huskies, USA), Asisat Oshoala (Bay FC, USA) and Rasheedat Ajibade (captain, formerly Atlético Madrid)
The competition will be held between July 5 and 26, 2025, in Morocco.
