Nigeria’s UFC superstar, Israel Adesanya has lost his middleweight title to American, Sean Strickland after suffering a defeat at Sydney, Australia’s Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday.
Adesanya, who came into the match as the defending champion was knocked down in the first round by the American but regained consciousness to continue the fight.
The match continued with both athletes trading punches and kicks for the duration of the entire fire rounds which was adjudged to be in favour of Strickland.
Strickland became the new UFC middleweight champion with all the judges scoring the fight 49-46 in his favour.
Israel Adesanya is yet to announce his next move as many fans are wondering if he will be seeking a rematch to reclaim the title or forget about a rematch and move on to next weight category.
