Ondo State former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi has emerged as the State’s Governorship Candidate for the November 2024 elections after defeating other aspirants in the party’s primary Elections.
Agboola Ajayi won the election with 246 Votes and clinched the party’s ticket for the Gubernatorial election.
He was a deputy to late Governor Akeredolu before leaving the APC for the PDP in 2020 in a bid to become the state Governor.
He then emerged as the candidate of the Zenit Labour Party where he contested and lost against the late Governor.
He has returned to the PDP and now the flag bearer of the party in an election which will pit him against another former Deputy Governor to Late Governor Akeredolu.
Agboola beat his closest rival, Hon. Kolade Akinjo who polled 157 votes. Sola Ebiseni scored 99 votes; Adeolu Akinwunmi polled 64votes; Bamidele Akingboye 24 votes; Bosun Arebuwa scored 2 votes and John Ola Mafo polled 9 votes.
Agboola Ajayi will now go against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to rule the Sunshine State for the next four years.
