Not less than 30 thousand women in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area are billed to benefit from the World Bank assisted Nigeria for Women Program Scale Up Project designed to empower rural and peri-urban women across communities in the area.
During an Advocacy and Sensitization visit of the Project Implementation Team to the Local Government, the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Seun Bosede Osamaye urged the women to organise themselves according to the requirements of the project.
Represented by the State Project Coordinator, Dr Mrs Jumoke Bakare, the Commissioner commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for prioritizing the welfare of women by paying the state counterpart fund.

The Project Coordinator also took time to explain grey areas to the women during an interactive session which afforded the women to ask further questions.
In their messages of goodwill, the Ondo State Commissioner for Water Resources, Public Sanitation and Hygiene, Elder Ayo Akande, represented by Chief Mrs Ajayi, the Chairman of Akoko Northwest Local Government, Hon. Owolabi Ẹsan, represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Musa Olasehinde, His wife, Mrs Grace Owolabi-Ẹsan, the President, National Council for Women Societies, NCWS and former Commissioner for Women Affairs in Ondo State, Princess Adebunmi Osadahun, and the Olórí of Ikaram-Akoko, Professor Gloria Momodu lauded the initiative and promised unflinching support for it.
They also promised to take the message to the various communities and localities in the council area towards galvanising and organising prospective beneficiaries.
The programme was attended by women from at least 27 communities in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area including community and religious leaders and women group
