Officers of the Osun State Security Network Agency popularly known as Amotekun Corps have arrested three persons who are suspected to be members of a syndicate that specialises in exhuming corpses and removing their parts for rituals.

According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Corps in the state, Adeniyi Adeshola Brown, the suspects were arrested after acting on credible intelligence gathering.

The arrested suspects are Kamilu Kehinde, a 43-year-old mechanic, Akeem Hamzat, 56-year-old driver and Wakeel Baka, a herbalist.

The suspects are accused of visiting places where corpses are buried and exhuming them in order to take sensitive organs for ritual purposes.

“They were all arrested following intelligence received by the our operatives at Iwo area of the state.

“On interrogation, the suspects made confessional statements that they were into the business of exhuming corpses from graves which they then sell to buyers who need them for money-making rituals among others.

Amotekun PRO said one of the suspects simply identified as Akeem Hamzat was not actually one of them, but confessed that one Ogun, who is now at large was with an exhumed body part.”

He however, disclosed that the Corps Commander, Osun State Security Network Agency, Bashir Abiodun Adewinmbi, has directed that the suspects be transferred to the Nigeria Police for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.

He added that “Residents of the state are encouraged to be more security conscious and always ensure that they report all suspicious activities to the Osun Amotekun.”
