Super Eagles of Nigeria and Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi continued his red-hot form in the premier league on Saturday as he scored a brace in his side’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Awoniyi who also scored a brace in his last outing for the club when they defeated Southampton 4-3 at the city ground gave Nottingham Forest the lead in the 13th minute of the encounter through a well placed header.
Raheem Sterling then scored twice to put Chelsea in the lead and raise the hopes of the home fans. However, the lead did not last for too long as Awoniyi scored another brilliant header in the 62nd minute to restore parity.
With both sides failing to find the winner, the points were shared as Nottingham Forest picked up one valuable point to bolster their survival hopes. Thanks to two well taken goals from Taiwo Awoniyi who now has four goals in two matches, Nottingham Forest can start dreaming of playing in the premier league next season.
Nottingham Forest are currently 16th on the premier league table with 34 points. They are three points ahead of Leeds united who are 18th on the log. With two more matches to be played by both sides, picking a point against Chelsea is very important.
It was however a day of sorrow for Super Eagles duo of Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu as their premier league team, Southampton got relegated to the EFL championship after a 2-0 defeat to Fulham.
