The proposed nationwide protest organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to show Nigerians dissatisfaction with the economic policies of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration has kicked off across the country.
According to information gathered by Climax News Hub, the protest has commenced in many states of the Federation with workers, civil society organizations and prominent Nigerians marching through the streets to call on the government to take immediate actions on their demands.
The protest in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja took of at the Unity Fountain and led by the national executives of the union amidst fanfare as protesters march while dancing to solidarity songs. The protesters were seen singing and dancing to “allow Nigerians to breathe, don’t suffocate us” in a video trending on social media platform Twitter/X.
The protest in Lagos State took off at Ikeja with massive turnout of protesters who converged before marching through the streets to make their demands known to the Federal Government. The Lagos protest was joined by prominent activist and Politician, Omoyele Sowore who came to support and participate in the movement.
Similar protests are ongoing in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Kaduna, Kano, kwara, Imo, Kogi, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Plateau, Cross River and other states where protesters are marching through the streets in protest against the worsening economic hardship in the country.
The protesters who wore various insignia showcasing NLC, TUC and other groups are marching through the streets massively, causing traffic gridlock as they progressed. Security operatives are seen with the protesters to avoid any breakdown of law and order.
