Breaking: Protest Breaks Out In Ondo As Residents March Against Farmland Invasion By Chinese Company

Residents of Ondo Kingdom in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State have taken to the street to protest against the invasion of their farmlands and destruction of their crops by foreign companies.

The Youths who came out in large number staged a walk across the community before heading to the palace of The Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Ọba (Dr.) Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo (Jilo III) to register their grievances.

According to the protesters, bulldozers have already been positioned in their villages to continue the destruction of their farmlands and source of livelihood.

The protesters, who are eserve occupants in Iluha, Laoso, Narowi, Kabiesi, Bolorunduro, Laoso, Adejori, Lomofe, Kese-omi and other camps are crying out for help as Rex Forex, a Chinese company allegedly commenced clearing of cash/food crops planted by the occupants.

From their songs and speeches, the protesters are calling on relevant stakeholders to intervene in the matter in order to save their livelihood and avoid breakdown of law and order in the community.

The protesters are still occupying the palace of the traditional ruler as at the time of filing this report.
