An illustrious son of Ondo Kingdom and a stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Clement Oluwamodimu popularly known as Next Level has appealed to the Ondo State government under the leadership of his Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to revive the fire service station in Ondo town in order to preserve lives and properties of people residing in the community.
Comrade Oluwamodimu, who resides in the United Kingdom, made this known in a statement signed by Prosperous Samuel and made available to the media on Tuesday 11th March, 2025.
In the statement, he called the attention of the Ondo state Governor to the deplorable state of the fire service station located in Ondo town and how it’s ineffectiveness has been leading to needless loss of lives and properties within the community.
He said “Between January this year and now , which is just a little above two months, the people of Ondo West Local Government have witnessed three serious fire outbreaks that destroyed properties and goods worth millions of naira and also claimed lives because the fire service station in the ancient town is moribound.
“It is a real cause for alarm that a place as important as Ondo West does not have a working fire service station. This is putting every inhabitant of the local council at risk because a fire outbreak cannot be predicted and devastated if not controlled.
“As we all know, fire is a good servant but a bad master. Therefore, we should always be ready to control it whenever it occurs.”
Comrade Oluwamodimu reiterated his believe in the EASE agenda of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the administration’s dedication to the welfare and safety of people in every part of the state.
He appealed that the fire service station in Ondo be brought back to life urgently in order to save lives and properties of people residing in the community.
“Your Excellency, we humbly appeal for your swift intervention to address this urgent crisis by making sure the fire service station in Ondo West has all the right equipments. We need modern fire trucks with supporting water tender/water tanker, excess source of water and those tools we need in an emergency.
“Setting up a decent system for people to call for help and get quick response when there is a fire outbreak.
“Fires outbreaks are huge threat to the things we care about the most: our lives and how we make a living. We need to act fast to stop any more bad things from happening. The people of Ondo West are really hoping you will see how important this is and somewhat it takes to get our fire emergency response back on track.
“We know you care about keeping the people of Ondo State safe and we are looking forward to what you are going to do about this. Your Excellency, please accept the assurances of my highest regard.”
