Liverpool Football Club’s Portuguese forward, Diogo José Teixeira da Silva, popularly known as Diogo Jota has died in a ghastly car crash in Spain.
Born on December 4, 1996, in Porto, Portugal, Jota excelled as a forward in his country before moving abroad where he played for the likes of Atletico Madrid and Wolverhampton Wanderers before arriving at Liverpool FC in 2020.
He scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for the Reds, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and the Carabao Cup during his five years spell at the club.
Jota’s impressive football skills earned 49 caps for his country and won the UEFA Nations League titles in 2019 and 2025.
He recently tied the knot with his long-time lover with whom he had three children before their marriage ceremony which took place on June 22, 2025.
Diogo Jota was enjoying his break from football when he and his brother André Silva, died in a car crash on July 3, 2025, in Zamora, Spain.
His brother was also a professional footballer who played for Penafiel in Portugal before his demise.
According to reports, the tragic incident happened due to a tire blowout which caused their Lamborghini to veer off the road and catch fire with none of the brothers lucky enough to survive.
