Security operatives from the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Police Force have arrested 20 individuals in Abuja for allegedly hacking the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
The suspects are believed to be part of a larger syndicate comprising over 100 members and known for targeting and breaching the servers of major examination bodies, including JAMB and the National Examinations Council.
It is also believed that the group operated with a high level of sophistication, exploiting technology to manipulate examination data for financial gain.
This development trails the continued outcry about the ability of JAMB to continue holding UTME amid the acclaimed technical glitch scandal that rocked the examination body over the conduct of this year’s examination.
