Operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested twenty-three suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation in Makurdi, Benue State on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
The arrested suspects are: David Uvaa, Patrick Adakole, Cyprian Aloo, Michael Anaambe, Okti Clinton, Ibi Raphael, Anaambe George, Msaasha John, Oche Edache, Anaker Terpase, Tanko Japhet and Ayalgo Lorfa.
Also arrested by the financial crimes watchdog are Success Terzungwe, Suursuter Isaiah, Lawani Peter, Paul Adewa, Jacob Paul, Ibi Shedrack, Iorkosu Michael, Shiedu Leonard, Terseer Mnenge, Ikyorna Raphael and Igba Ngutor.
According to the agency, the suspects were arrested after a sting operation was conducted in the state capital to fish out suspected internet fraudsters operating in the state.
The agency revealed that items recovered from the suspects include different mobile phones and one Toyota Corolla car.
The suspects have reportedly made useful statements and will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
