A youth organization in Ondo Kingdom, Ekimogun Youths Connect (EYC) is set to commence the distribution of school uniforms to vulnerable students in Ondo East and West Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
According to a statement signed by the group’s president, Comrade Famakinwa Lucas popularly known as Kakaki, the programme tagged “EYC 2024 KIT A CHILD PROGRAMME” will be commenced soon in order to help bring an end to the negative trend of young students not getting educated because of their inability to get proper uniforms.
The statement read “As a youth organization, the desire to promote the welfare of others remains a burden in our heart.
“Over the years, we have discovered that many students wear torn uniforms and shoes to school. Some are forced to ‘wash and wear’ wet uniforms because the only pair could not dry while others cannot raise their hands in class to answer questions or approach their teachers for consultation.
“Torn uniforms reduce students’ self-esteem and confidence, causing an increased rate of absenteeism and poor academic performance.
“The basis of the EKIMOGUN YOUTHS CONNECT 2024 KIT A CHILD PROJECT is to ensure the educational advancement of pupils through the provision of full school uniforms.
“Our target is to provide school uniforms to thousands of students between 2024 and 2025 so as to increase school enrollment, self esteem and student retention in Ondo.
“Our target beneficiaries are the disadvantaged students and vulnerable children from different schools within Ondo East and Ondo West local governments.
“Special appreciation to our brother Comrade Michael Ayo Omoniyi (MikkyPel) that is sponsoring this project. He is a comrade, a philanthropist and an advocate of the 4th Sustainable Development Goal i.e access to Quality Education. May God reward him copiously. Amen.
“In no distant time, our team will be moving from one school to another to identify these students and deliver their kits to them.”
