The Federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared Wednesday 27 September, 2023 a public holiday for this year’s Eid-ul-Maulud celebration which is a commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
The announcement was made by the Minister of interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on behalf of the federal government.
According to a statement signed yesterday by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the minister admonished Nigerians, especially the youths to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues and which Prophet Muhammad exemplified.
He added that following this noble path would help guarantee peace, security and harmony in the country.
He congratulated all Muslims in the country and outside it’s borders for witnessing this year’s celebration.
Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo also urged Nigerians to embrace the virtues of hard work and peaceful disposition to fellow humans irrespective of faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity.
He called on all Nigerians to join hands with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in its effort to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens will be proud of.
