The Flying Eagles if Nigeria have been knocked out of the ongoing FIFA U20 World after a 1-0 loss to South Korea on Sunday.
The Ladan Bosso led side who had claimed scalps of football giants like Italy and Argentina shockingly lost to the patient Asians in a match the Nigerians largely dominated.
The Flying Eagles dominated the encounter from kick-off as they pinned their opponents back, had so much of the ball and fired shots which were largely off target.
As the Flying Eagles could not apply finishing touches to their flurry of opportunities, the South Koreans grew into the match and began to create opportunities of their own.
With neither side unable to break the deadlock after 90 minutes, the match headed into extra time. In the 95th minute, South Korean defender, Choi Seok-Hyun got his head on the ball from a well taken corner kick to hand his team the lead.
The Flying Eagles tried to get back into the match by scoring an equalizer but the South Korean defence was never going to be breached.
When the referee blew the whistle for full-time, the South Koreans celebrate their progress into the semi-final while the Flying are left to rue the opportunities they missed.
