A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has been gruesomely murdered by gunmen who stormed his church while they were holding a vigil.
The unfortunate incident took place on Saturday at Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun state.
While the pastor was murdered, seven other members of his church were also abducted by suspected kidnappers.
According to the State Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, the unfortunate incident led to the pastor’s death but all those who were abducted have been successfully rescued by his men.
He revealed how the gunmen stormed the Church at about midnight while a vigil was been held, killed the pastor and abducted seven members who were attending the vigil.
Ganzallo added that all those who were abducted by the gunmen had been rescued unhurt his men who engaged the criminals after receiving information about the incident.
He added that one of the criminals was shot dead during the course of the rescue operation carried out by his men.
He said “The special operation team of the Corps, Owode-Egba Zonal Command, under ACC Jimoh Rasaki Omoniyi, received a distress call that some of the members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22, Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area were attacked during a vigil, while seven members of the church were kidnapped and the pastor killed.”
“The seven victims were rescued unhurt while one of the kidnappers was killed and many of the suspects sustained serious injury during a fire exchange.”
Security agencies in the state have launched a manhunt for the fleeing criminals with the aim of prosecuting them for the heinous crime they have committed.
