Former Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Odion Ighalo has won this season’s King’s cup with Saudi Arabia’s football powerhouse, AlHilal Saudi Football Club after defeating Al Wehda on Friday.
Odion Ighalo and his teammates won the major title after surviving a pulsating final match which ended with a 1-1 scoreline after 120 minutes of action at the King Abdullah Sport complex.
Abdoul Karim Yoda gave Al Wehda the lead in the 35th minute of the fiesty encounter. AlHilal were made to work very hard and waited until nine minutes into injury time before central defender Ali Al Boleahi scored the equalizer to send the match into extra time.
AlHilal was presented a golden opportunity to win the encounter in the 96th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick. However, Musab Al Jawayr could not complete the comeback as he failed to score the spot kick.
