The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the arrest of musician and son of Afrobeat legend, Mr. Seun Kuti for assaulting a policeman in Lagos.
This was disclosed on Saturday in a statement issued by force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi where the IGP ordered the immediate arrest, investigation and prosecution of Mr. Seun Kuti for assaulting a policeman.
“the IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.”
“IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.”
Explaining what led to the now viral face-off between him and the policeman, Seun Kuti accused the policeman of attempting to kill him and his family.

He assured police authorities of his willingness to cooperate with them to unravel what actually transpired between him and the policeman.
“I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted.”
