Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on an official two-day official visit to Ghana in order to bolster relationship between the two countries and make strategic moves on the overall development of both countries.

He was received by Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama as both leaders had productive discussions on key areas that are expected to have economic benefits on both countries.

Speaking about his time in the West African country, Prime Minister Modi described his visit as a very successful one with so many positive results to highlight.

He said “The talks with President John Dramani Mahama were extremely fruitful. We have elevated our ties to a comprehensive partnership, which will be beneficial for the people of our nations.

“We discussed ways to improve trade and economic linkages. Cooperation in FinTech, skill development, healthcare and other such sectors were also deliberated upon.

“India and Ghana also see immense scope in working closely in areas such as critical minerals, defence, maritime security and energy. Enhancing cultural linkages was also talked about.”

Modi also revealed his excitement about the hospitality he enjoyed in Ghana which saw him conferred with one of the most important honours in the country.

“I thank the people and Government of Ghana for conferring ‘The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana’ upon me. This honour is dedicated to the bright future of our youth, their aspirations, our rich cultural diversity and the historical ties between India and Ghana.

“This honour is also a responsibility; to keep working towards stronger India-Ghana friendship. India will always stand with the people of Ghana and continue to contribute as a trusted friend and development partner.”
