A life was lost in Ore town, in Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State when suspected thugs allegedly beat up a middle-aged man for trying to retrieve his stolen phone from them.
The deceased, who was identified as Jeremiah Alakija allegedly gave up the ghost due to the injuries suffered from the beaten he got from the thugs.
The tragic incident which took place at Ajegunle area of the community has left many in shock.
According to reports, the late Jeremiah Alakija’s phone was stolen and he tracked the phone to know who stole the phone. He discovered that the phone was with one Godwin who was a friend to the thugs.
He reportedly made contact with Godwin in an attempt retrieve the phone. He even promised to pay the thug the sum N5000 but his effort was fruitless.
He then asked one of his friends to help me get the phone from back from Godwin. While they were handling the issue, some thugs attacked them which forced everyone to run for safety. The deceased was not lucky enough to escape as he was caught by thugs and beaten to pulp.
The late Jeremiah Alakija sustained serious injuries from the beaten he got from his attackers and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Efforts to salvage his life proved fruitless as he died because of the injuries he sustained from the attack.
