The leadership of the apex youth body in Ondo Kingdom, Ondo Ekimogun Youths Congress (OEYC) have held a security meeting with commercial motorcyclists working in the community over the rise in crimes perpetrated by Okada riders.

According to the youth leaders, the meeting was held in order to find solutions to the growing trend of multiple crimes committed by criminals posing as commercial motorcyclists in the community.

The meeting which was held on Thursday at the popular Ife roundabout area had in attendance the leadership of Ondo Ekimogun Youths Congress (OEYC) and commercial motorcyclists popularly known as Okada riders.

According to the youths body, there are reports making the round that some okada riders are now fond of carrying their passengers especially travelers and strangers to unknown locations where they either swindle or rob them of their possessions.

Speaking at the meeting, Ondo Ekimogun Youths Congress President, Engr. Kayode Folajogun said that he was there to have a brotherly discussion with the okada riders on the need for them to shun any act of criminality.

He warned them not to allow criminal elements around them as Ondo community would not condone illegalities and any form of attitudes that could truncate the relative peace enjoyed in the community.

He also charged motorists, commuters and residents to always say something whenever they see something in order to help keep the community secured and rid it of criminal elements.

Engr. Folajogun urged residents to make help curb the menace by ensuring that suspected criminals are promptly reported to security agents.

He appreciated all the security operatives in the city who had promptly responded to the distress calls made by residents on the ugly development.

In his response, one of the Okada riders who identified himself as Mr Azeez explained that the criminal elements behind the atrocities are not known to the real Okada riders.

He added that they are unable to identify the criminal elements because some okada riders are known to wear masks which hide their faces and make it very difficult for the real Okada riders to identify who they are.

The Okada riders thanked Ondo Ekimogun youths Congress(OEYC) for being a good representative of the kingdom and worthy face of Ondo-Ekimogun youths.

They promised to always perform their duties with utmost responsibility while working with relevant authorities to expose evil doers pretending as commercial motorcyclists in the community.
