The Ondo West Legislative Council have passed a bill which centres on the regulation and revenue generation from event centres within the local government area.
According to a statement released by the SA Media to the Legislative Council Ondo West, Adegoju Caleb, the bill was successfully passed its second reading and was formally enacted into law.
The bill was sponsored by the Executive Chairman Ondo West Local Government Akinfolarin Ayotunde through the Chairman House Committee on Internal Generated Revenue and Councillor representing Ward 1, Gbenro Adewale.
The motion for passage was moved by the Majority Leader, and Councillor representing Ward 12, Akinlaja Ayodeji, and supported by the Councillor representing Ward 3, Yekini Abeeb.
The bill received formal adoption and final passage by the Leader of the House, Olatuja Doris Abiodun.
This passage followed intensive consultations between the Executive Chairman of Ondo West Local Government and the proprietors of various event centers and halls across the city.
The Councillor representing Ward 8 who is also the Chairman House committee on Education and Culture, Oladejo Kamarudeen Adeola commended the successful passage of the bill and stressed the importance of building a strong legislative culture.
He noted that timely passage of bills into law is critical for policy implementation, institutional development, and improved service delivery to the people.
Health-related issues were also brought to the fore by the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Isaac Vincent who emphasized the need for the Health Department to prioritize the use of indigenous community members when deploying personnel for medical outreach programs such as immunization.
He cited a recent case where a deployed officer was nearly stranded in his constituency, while discharging her duty.
The Majority leader of the House who is also Councillor representing Ward 12, and Chairman, House Committee on Budget and Appropriation, Akinlaja Ayodeji emphasized the need for immediate attention to constituency projects and community rehabilitation efforts.
“People are looking up to us. They have invested their trust in each of the councillors and we must deliver. Mr. Leader, kindly look into it and also call on the Executive Chairman to swing into action” Hon. Akinlaja stated.
