Traditional rulers in Odigbo Local Government Council have rejected the proposal on the creation of a Coastal State from the current Ondo State.

The proposed state creation is reportedly being championed by Ondo South Senator, jimoh Ibrahim.

In a statement released by the Traditional Chairman of the Council, the Ajobu of Araromi- Obu kingdom, HRM ,Oba Adelola Aderemi, they expressed their disappointment and disapproval of the proposal.

The statement read “We want to make it clear that the Odigbo Local Government Traditional Council does not support the creation of a Coastal State.

“This proposal is not in the best interest of our people, and we urge Senator Jimoh Ibrahim to reconsider his actions.

“The traditional council believes that the creation of a new state would not benefit the people of Odigbo and would instead lead to further instability and division.

“We are not against progress and development, but margining us with coastal state will not be accepted.

“We urge all stakeholders to reject this proposal and work towards the development of Ondo State as a whole,” the Chairman emphasised

The meeting was held at the palace of the Ajobu of Araromi- Obu kingdom and attended by all the traditional rulers in Odigbo Local Government Area.
