The Ondo State government under the leadership of Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has announced the closure of a major road in Akure, the state capital.
According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, the road closure is important for the progress of the flyover at Onyearugbulem/Shagari along Ilesha-Akure-Owo expressway, the highway.
The closure is expected to last for five days with the government claiming that adequate arrangements have been made to divert traffic from the road during the period.
It read “This is to inform the general public especially motorists, that as a result of casting and placement of pre-stressed beams on the ongoing flyover at Onyearugbulem/Shagari along Ilesha-Akure-Owo expressway, the highway will be closed for 5 days starting from Sunday October 5th to Friday October 10th 2025.
“Adequate arrangements had been made for the diversion of traffic for the period of this exercise.
“We regret any inconvenience caused by the closure and appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our infrastructure.”
