The suspended nationwide strike embarked upon by the organized labour under the umbrella of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) may be resumed soon as negotiations between the Federal Government and the labour unions have failed to yield desire results for both parties.
This is coming as the Federal Government reportedly increased its offer from N60,000 to N62,000 which falls short of the N250,000 that the labour unions have reduced their wage demand to.
This development was made known through the Tripartite Committee on Friday which announced that the increment of the new minimum wage from N60,000 to N62,000 but the Organised Labour insisted on N250,000 figure.
The tripartite committee is expected to forward both positions to President Bola Tinubu who is expected to study them and forward a bill to the National Assembly for the final consideration of the new national minimum wage Act.
Recall that NLC President, Joe Ajaero had declared the readiness of the labour unions to resume the strike if their demands are not met by the federal government.
With the current impasse between both parties, it remains unclear if the federal government will increase its offer to avert another devastating round of nationwide strike.
