Ahead of the commencement of the Ondo Women Football Competition tagged “Osebaba Cup 2023” in Ondo kingdom, there is a wave of excitement moving through the community as football lovers, coaches and players in the community who are anxiously waiting for the tournament to take centre stage.
The two-day tournament which will take centre stage in the ancient city of Ondo between August 26 and 27 is put together by a certified international coach and CEO of Makinz Sports Promotion Limited, Akinboni Koleola (Osebaba).
The tournament which is organized to discover talented young female footballers in the community and give them a platform where they their footballing talents can be groomed to become global football icons.
The tournament which is only a few days away will bring dignitaries from all walks of life into the Adeyemi College of Education Sports Complex for the discovery of talented young female footballers.
Former Super Falcons of Nigeria stars Vera Okolo, Amarachi Lilian Ezeabasili and Rita Nwadike are expected to be at the venue to witness the discovery of young female footballers who could be representing Nigeria in the future.
The member representing Ondo East and West at the Federal House of Representatives, Honourable Abiola Makinde and the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development in Ondo state, Dele Ologun are also expected to be at the venue to witness the discovery of young female footballers in the community.
As the tournament draws closer, football coaches and their young female footballers are intensifying efforts to put themselves in the best shape physically and mentally to be able to grab the opportunity that is coming there way.
With the organizer presenting an opportunity of helping three most skillful players secure moves to a big club in the country, there is an added incentive for the players to ensure that they are one of the three players who will receive this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Participants will also be jostling for cash prizes, football kits and various awards which will be presented by the organizer and dignitaries at the football tournament.
