Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen has emerged as the top scorer in the Turkish Super Liga after his 24 goals helped Galatasaray complete the domestic double ahead of their rivals.
Osimhen, who bagged a decisive brace that helped Galatasaray win the Turkish Cup scored another goal as Galatasaray defeated Kayserispor 3-0 to secure the league title with two rounds of matches to be played.
Galatasaray currently have an eight points lead over their closest rivals, Fenerbahce and needed only a single point to win a third successive league title but they took all three points against Kayserispor to show how dominant they are.
Osimhen, who is on a season-long loan from Napoli played an instrumental role in Galatasaray’s dominant campaign. His tally of 25 goals in 29 league appearances helped the team to their 25th Super Lig trophy and made him the goal king in Turkey.
Osimhen recently broke a record that has been unbroken for more than two decades when his brace allowed in the Turkish Cup final allowed him to surpass Mario Jardel’s record, set in 2000.
Osimhen 35th goal of the season scored in the final allowed him to become the highest-scoring foreign player in Turkish football history. The record has been extended to 36 goals now with two more for him to extend it further.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray supporters brought a huge banner to the final match as they publicly urged Victor Osimhen to stay at the club.
The banner which read “Stay with us Osi! not because you have to but because you want to!” was unveiled by the fans to urge the Nigerian goal king to make his move to the club permanent after having such a wonderful loan spell with them.
It remains unclear where Victor Osimhen will be playing his club football next season as he continues to be linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United who are in need of a striker of his caliber.
