The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has said that the automation of passport application process in Nigeria will begin from January 8, 2024.
He said that Nigerians will be able to apply and complete their passport application process online without human contact.
The minister revealed this on Monday in Abuja during an inspection of facilities of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) alongside the Comptroller General (CG) of the Service, Wura-Ola Adepoju.
“We are starting the training and on January 8, the solution will be live and direct for Nigerians to have a good feel, a sweet experience based on the Renewed Hope of Mr President.
“We have been able to reduce human contact in passport acquisition to the minimum.”
He also posted on his official Facebook account about the latest development stressing it as a move that will revolutionize acquisition of Nigerian passports.
“Yesterday, I inspected facilities of the Nigeria Immigration Service alongside the Comptroller General of the Service, Wura-Ola Adepoju.
“This is coming ahead of the automation of the passport application process, which will begin from January 8, 2024, where Nigerians will be able to apply and complete their passport application process online without human contact.
“This is for Nigerians to have a good feel, a sweet experience based on the #RenewedHope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).”
