Former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has claimed that former Anambra State Governor and Presidential candidate of the Labour Party during the 2023 election, Peter Obi has concluded plans to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Sheriff made this claim during an interview on Politics on Channels Television on Monday while addressing the emergence of ADC as a coalition force in the country.
He said “As far as this politics is concerned, they (ADC) don’t exist. The information available to me is that any moment from now, Peter Obi will go back to PDP and run as a presidential candidate under PDP.”
He also added that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) which is seen as a coalition platform for opposition politicians in the country does not exist in the country’s political landscape.
Peter Obi has been one of the prominent politicians who brought the new opposition coalition to national attention but has continued to be subject of a return to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 Presidential election.
Even though Peter Obi attended a coalition party declaration and supports the idea of using the ADC as a united front, he has not officially announced his departure left the Labour Party.
However, with the exit of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the party zoning it’s presidential ticket to the South, discussions about Peter Obi’s return to the party is gaining momentum with Ali Modu Sheriff adding his voice to the discussions.
