Sunshine Stars of Akure continued their good run of form under coach Kennedy Boboye as they secured a 1 – 0 victory over Katsina United in their Nigeria Professional Football League clash in Akure.
A goal scored by Yusuf Ibrahim in the 44th minute was enough for the Akure Gunners to pick all three points against a Katsina United side that were five points ahead of them before the match began.
The Ondo State Football Club which had found itself in relegation battle before the arrival of Kennedy Boboye have looked a different team with their recent run of results moving them rapidly up the League table.
The Akure Gunners have lost only once in their last five matches and have picked up three wins during that time. They have also won their last two matches which have seen move to eleventh position on the league table with thirty-three points from twenty-five matches.
Meanwhile, Katsina United’s Coach, Bala Abubakar has said that he is quitting his position as the head coach of the team with immediate effect.
He made this known in his post match news conference where lamented about the hostile environment created by club supporters and attacks as some of the reasons for his exit. He accused the fans and management of expecting too much while not doing enough for the team.
