Remo Stars Football Club have been crowned champions of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following a resounding 4-1 win over Ikorodu City on Sunday at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.
The victory secured the club’s first-ever top-flight title, marking a historic moment for the club and solidifies it’s place as one of the best managed team in the country.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun was available at the stadium to present the NPFL trophy to the team inside the packed Remo Stars stadium in Ikenne.
The victory, which brings Remo Stars to 71 points with one match remaining, caps off a dominant season and confirms their qualification for the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
The club was founded in 2004 by sports entrepreneur and business mogul, Kunle Soname who is an indigene of Ogun State. The club has recently become the model for how private investment into football in the country can change the fortunes of football teams and this league triumph will encourage more private investment into the league.
Remo Stars are the first club from the Southwest region to lift the Nigeria Premier Football League title since Julius Berger did it in 1991.
