Ondo State female football club, Sunshine Queens of Akure came out on top as they clashed with Remo Stars Ladies in a National Women Football League encounter on Wednesday.
The Ondo state outfit picked up all three points courtesy of first half goals from Obianuju Akwubo and Chinaza Soroibe which handed them a much needed 2-1 victory at home.
Remo Stars Ladies’ Isigbo Blessing gave her team hope as she reduced the deficit but her effort was not enough to help her team win or draw the match against their South Western rival.
The victorious Sunshine Queens will be hoping they can build on the victory to turn around their season which has not been impressive. They are currently bottom of group B table of the National Women Football League and need to keep picking points to move up the table.
