Ondo State Football Club, Sunshine Stars of Akure have secured their status as a member of the Nigeria Professional Football League next season.
The Akure based team achieved this after securing a 1-0 victory over Doma United in a rescheduled match in Gombe.
The Kennedy Boboye led side collected all three points thanks to a 37th minute goal by Ibrahim Yusuf.
The victory took Sunshine Stars’ total points to 52 points in 37 matches which also moved them to 10th position on the log with only one round of matches left.
Meanwhile, Doma United who were favourites to win the league title after their early season performances are sinking deep into relegation waters and will need a miracle to survive.
With a huge -16 goal difference, Doma United needs to beat Abia Warriors 17-0 in their last match and hope that both Akwa United and Sporting Lagos fail to pick up any point in their own matches to survive.
