Sunshine Stars of Akure’s journey in this season’s Federation Cup has come to an end after a 1-0 loss to Bendel Insurance of Benin at the Akwa City Stadium on Sunday.
A goal by Deputy Echeta scored in the 59th minute of the match was enough to move the Edo state outfit into the semi-final stage at the expense of the Akure Gunners.
The narrow loss would be a bitter pill for Edith Agoye and his team to swallow as they would have been dreaming of moving further in the competition and replicate the stellar season they are having in the NPFL.
In other matches, Warri Wolves defeated Lobi Stars 2-1, Plateau United defeated Kwara United 1-0 and Enugu Rangers defeated Doma United 1-0.
The last four teams; Warri Wolves, Plateau United, Enugu Rangers and Bendel Insurance will soon know who they will facing in the semi-final of the Federation Cup.
