The Super Eagles of Nigeria have secured their place in the Semi-final stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast after a 1-0 victory over the Palancas Negras of Angola on Friday.
The Nigerians, who are the highest ranking team left in the competition secured the victory after a well worked attack was finish by Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman in the 41st minute of the match.
Despite the flurry of chances that came the way of both teams in the second half of the match, the scoreline remained unchanged as the Super Eagles advanced into the last four while the Palancas Negras were eliminated from the continental football competition.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will be going up against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Semi-final stage after the DRC defeated Guinea 3-1 to secure their own place in the last four.
Nigeria will be hoping to continue their quest to win the Africa Cup of Nations title for the fourth time. They last lifted the trophy in 2013 after defeating Burkina Faso in the final match. They were led by the late Stephen Keshi.
