The Super Falcons of Nigeria kicked off their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign with a dominant 3-0 victory over Tunisia on Sunday.
The Super Falcons who are the top ranked national team in Africa faced Tunisia in their opening Group B match at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, Morocco and picked up three massive points in their quest to progress into the next round of the competition.
Africa’s most dominant woman footballer in history, Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring for the Super Falcons by heading in a free-kick taken by Rinsola Babajide in the 4th minute.
Rinsola Babajide then added the second goal just before half-time before substitute Chinwendu Ihezuo scored in the 84th minute to end any hope of a Tunisia comeback.
The 3-0 victory for the Super Falcons moved them to the top of the group and they are well positioned to win the group in their quest to reclaim the WAFCON title which was won by South Africa during the last championship.
