A 15-year-old boy, Omolayo Olowoniyi has been remanded at the Okitipupa Correctional center pending the conclusion of his trial for allegedly assaulting his teachers.
The suspect who was brought before an Odigbo Magistrates’ Court was alleged to have attacked students teachers from Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo in company of other persons who are now at large.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence on May 24, 2023 at about 03:30pm at Alagbado village in Ore, Odigbo local government area of Ondo State.
The prosecutor informed the court that the accused and others were armed with dangerous weapons such when they attacked the student teachers.
The students who were having their teaching practice at Our Saviour Comprehensive College, Alagbado, Ore were allegedly attacked by Omolayo and his gang and have various forms of injuries inflicted on their bodies.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence levelled against him while the prosecutor asked for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and gather his witnesses for trial.
The defence counsel pleaded that the accused person be granted bail by the court but the prosecutor opposed the bail application.
Senior Magistrate Ogunfuyi ruled that the defendant should be remanded at the Okitipupa Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till June 22, 2023 for bail consideration.
