Nigeria has a new leader at the helm of affairs as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been sworn in as the 16th president of the country. He succeeds former president Muhammad Buhari who spent eight years on the seat.
The swearing in ceremony took place at the Eagles Square in Abuja on Monday in the presence of dignitaries from within Nigeria and from across the world.
Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola administered the oath of office to Tinubu and his deputy, Kashim Shettima at exactly 10:28am and 10:38am respectively to mark the commencement of their tenure.
President Tinubu was driven around in his presidential motorcade as he waved to his cheering supporters.
Dignitaries at the venue of the inauguration ground include Rwanda President, Paul Kagame Ghana President, Nana Akufo-Addo, Prime Minister of Gabon, Billy By-Nze, President of the Republic of Cote D’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara.
Also present at the ceremony include service chiefs, heads of security agencies, governors, former governors, serving and former ministers as well as chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Business leaders like Akinwumi Adesina, Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Jim Ovia and others were also present.
