The University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ondo is set to welcome officials from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCAN) to the institution for accreditation exercise.
This was made known in a statement released by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Akinjide Oluwatope on Wednesday.
It read “An accreditation team from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCAN) will on Thursday and Friday 8th and 9th June, 2023 visit University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH) Ondo State for quality university education to students and academic programmes.”
The Chief Medical Director of the institution, Dr. Oluwole Ige described the institution as one which sees accreditation exercise as a means of strengthening it’s ability to perform it’s duties of sustaining and improving people’s health.
His words “We believed very strongly and honestly that accreditation processes are to correct and assist us in improving our programmes, so that we can produce quality students for national development”.
He also revealed the level of preparedness of the institution’s personnels and facilities for the visitation of MDCAN accreditation team.
“the UNIMED teaching hospital environment is well prepared to create a welcome ambience for the team. The hospital wards are well set with suction machines, plus oximeter, diagnostic sets and many more.”
