World marathon record holder, Kelvin Kiptum has lost his life in a road accident in his native Kenya.
The Marathoner, aged 24, who recently had his world record achievement ratified, lost his life at the peak of what looked like an inspiration running career.
Kiptum, who is also the current London Marathon winner, died after being involved in an accident along Eldoret-Ravine highway in Kenya. He died alongside his coach, Garvais Hakizimana.
World Champion and fellow countryman, Eliud Kipchoge mourned Kelvin Kiptum’s tragic death by expressing his sorrow about the loss and offering his condolences to his family.
He said “I am deeply saddened by the tragic passing of the Marathon World record holder and rising star Kelvin Kiptum.
“An athlete who had a whole life ahead of him to achieve incredible greatness. I offer my deepest condolences to his young family. May God comfort you during this trying time.”
