Supreme Court Justice, Chima Centus Nweze, has passed away on Sunday night after a brief illness.
Justice Nweze is one of the highly significant and sometimes controversial judges of the apex court due to the roles he played in some landmark judicial cases in the country.
Justice Nweze by the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC), was appointed to the Supreme Court by the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, in 2014.
Nweze had served as a judge of the court of appeal and earlier as judge of the high court of Enugu.
The late Justice Chima Centus Nweze was a native of Obollo, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State. He was a practising Christian and married to Hon Justice Ugonne Jacinta Nweze of the Enugu State Judiciary before his death.
