Ondo state sole representative in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Sunshine Stars of Akure are billed to commence the 2023/2024 season with a date with Kano Pillars in Akure.
The Akure Gunners are confident ahead of clashing with the former NPFL Champion in their opening fixture as they consider the match to be a spring board that can help the team achieve success this season.
The General Manager of Sunshine Stars, Prince Tunde Ogunja while interacting with journalists described his team’s clash with Kano Pillars in the first home match as a propeller.
“I am glad that our first match is at home against pillars. Though they are coming back straight to the league having gone down months ago, we know their antecedents and what they are capable of doing but our players are up to the task.
“Playing Kano pillars will propel out team to gain the needed balance quick and with a convincing display that will earn us 3 points I believe we shall grow in confidence.”
He also commended the Hon Elegbeleye led League management board for the various initiatives introduced into the system to help improve the standard of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
He assured fans of Sunshine stars of the team’s preparedness and improvements which will be seen right from the opening match when Kano Pillars battle the Owena Whales in Akure.
