The Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji Landmark has met with Youths in Ondo West Local Government area of Ondo state to strategize on how to improve the welfare of residents of the community.
He met with the Youths on Friday at a town hall meeting held in the Ondo town where his representatives interacted with leaders of various youth organizations in the kingdom.
Speaking on behalf of the Speaker, his Special Adviser on youth mobilization/affairs, Akinjolie Akintayo emphasized how important it is for the youths to play their roles effectively to ensure that the community witnesses rapid development.
He hinted that the meeting was held to bring Ondo youths together under one umbrella so that their challenges will be presented and steps taken to resolve such challenges.
Ondo Youths President, Engr. Kayode Folajogun, who was represented by OEYC Vice president Kayode Igbekoyi appreciated the lawmaker for having the town hall meeting and presented issues which need urgent attention of the government.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the controversy surrounding recent LCDAs creation in Ondo state and the non inclusion of Ondo town hospitals in the latest Ondo state palliative arrangements.
The Youths also intimated the lawmaker about challenges faced by farmers in the community who are facing evictions from the various farm settlements across the local government area.
The Youths also spoke about the rapid growth of unemployment in the community and the need for interventions that will aid massive job creation. They also talked about rising insecurity and the need to secure lives and properties of residents.
Responding to the Youths, Dr. Sehinde Fanokun appreciated the youths for intimating the government about the developments and assured them that actions will be taken to address the issues.
He said “That is why we are here , though Mr Speaker is unavoidably present, his heart is always with us reason he has called for this meeting and has also sent us here so that we can discuss ways to better move our people, youths, Ondo kingdom and Ondo State forward together.”
