As the current state of the Owena axis of the Ondo to Akure road and the negative impacts it is having on residents and road users continue to generate calls from stakeholders, Youths in the affected local government area have called for urgent interventions from relevant bodies.
The Youths under the umbrella of Ondo East Youth Council called on government at all levels to expedite actions on the reconstruction of the damaged road in order to halt the growing negative impacts it is having on residents and road users.
The Youths who visited the damaged portion of the road on Wednesday emphasized the importance of the road to the economic prosperity of the country as a whole and the convenience of people who use the road for various reasons.

According to a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Folajimi Olasanoye, the damaged portion of the road requires urgent attention from all in order to alleviate the suffering of the people.
The President, Awoniyi Micheal appealed to the Federal and State Governments to intensify efforts in getting the road back to it’s old functional state.
It read “The condition of the road linking Akure the state capital to Ondo South is at the state of dismal-pesma, this road is also one of the major roads that link South-South, South East and even Lagos state to Northern Nigeria.
“About a month that the road has being unaccessible to all road users in the country and has outrightly inhibit the functions of many businesses that ply the road. The economy of the local government has drastically being affected.”
The Youths appreciate ongoing work to fix the damaged portion of the road and call for the remodeling of the road into a more efficient dual carriage that will serve road users better and aid economic growth.
“We appreciate the ongoing fillings and compacting work at the site by the state Government under Arakunrin Akeredolu Aketi (SAN) but a better safe and accessible dual road can be initiated and constructed, whereas the road has been constructed over 40 years”

They also called the attention of government at all levels and other stakeholders to the local government area’s ongoing battle with lack of power supply which has been crippling economic activities and worsening living conditions of residents in the local government area for a long time.
The Youths called on relevant stakeholders to take actions that will help put an end to the power supply problem which has been plaguing the local government area for over fifteen years.
