In a bid to strengthen community policing and grassroots security, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, was represented by the Area Commander of Mbaïtoli, ACP T. J. Adesina, at a Stakeholders’ Security Meeting, held on Saturday, 4th October 2025, at Amaimo Autonomous Community, Ikeduru LGA.

The meeting brought together community leaders, stakeholders, vigilante groups, and other security agencies to discuss ways to improve security in Amaimo and surrounding communities.

Key attendees included the immediate past Deputy Governor, Professor Placid Njoku, and the Ikeduru LGA Chairman, Rt. Hon. Justice Nze. They emphasized the need for strong partnerships with the police to enhance safety in Amaimo and neighbouring communities. Both leaders commended the vigilante groups for their dedication and encouraged continued commitment.

Traditional rulers present were HRH Eze Collins Otumbadu (Ofor I of Umuofor), HRH Eze Dr. Peter Njoku (Uru II of Umu Uri), and HRH Eze Victor Achionye (Obodo Autonomous Community). Also in attendance were Presidents General of Amaimo communities, religious and women’s leaders, councillors, and vigilante heads. The event, organized by Chief Christian Akujiobi and his team, was praised for their dedication to community security.

The vigilante groups showcased their readiness with a well-coordinated march-past parade. Representing the Commissioner of Police, ACP T. J. Adesina praised the community’s proactive approach to safety and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with local security stakeholders. He stressed that lasting peace requires collective participation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, served as guest speaker and delivered an insightful lecture on the role of vigilante groups in community policing. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, timely intelligence sharing, and swift response as essential strategies for maintaining security and addressing emerging threats.

The summit concluded with donations aimed at empowering vigilante groups within Amaimo. The Imo State Police Command called on all citizens to remain vigilant, uphold the rule of law, and actively support ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security.
